AntaresVriska

I'm a queer US-based streamer, content creator, and educator, currently streaming on Twitch and managing two Youtube Channels: AntaresVriska and NeonAntares.

Siege Educator

I've been in the FPS scene for years, stemming all the way back to Battlefield 1942 when I was a child. Over the years I've picked up a number of FPS's, including Dirty Bomb, Overwatch, Rust, Destiny 2, and most recently Rainbow Six: Siege.

When I was starting out, every guide I found was along the lines of "How To Hit Masters", "Bronze To Grandmaster", "How [Pro Team] Won", everything was geared towards trying to be the absolute best of the best.

I realized there was virtually no content for "How To Be Average" or "How To Start". I didn't wanna be some grand genius player that nobody could beat, I wanted to have fun, and I wanted the people around me to have fun with what has become an overly competitive, heavily scrutinized genre.

New Players

The main group I like to work with are players that are unfamiliar to either Rainbow Six: Siege, or the First-Person Shooter genre as a whole. Veterans of the genre have a tendency to forget that very basic terminology like "Peeking", "Refrags", or "Holding" are a foreign language to players who don't have their years of experience.

When I work with new players, my goal isn't to make them good at the game. My goal is to make themĀ literate, to help them hit a point where they understand what's going on, what they're doing, and how they can help.

Strategy Over Mechanics

In the First-Person Shooter genre, it's a common belief that the only way to measure if a player is "Good" is by how many kills they get. This is reflected in some of the most popular creators in the genre being credited for their mechanical skill above all else.

While most educational creators will make content focused on mechanical skill (Improving Aim, Winning Duels, etc), I prefer to focus on the strategic elements of the genre. In a game with numerous tools for gathering information and developing strategies, mechanical skill should be secondary compared to knowing how to leverage the game in your favor.
